Speculum

A speculum is a medical instrument used to open and view inside body cavities.
It commonly has two or more blades that are gently separated once inserted.
The most frequently used type is the vaginal speculum, used in gynecological exams.
It helps doctors clearly view the cervix and vaginal canal.
Some speculums, like Cusco’s, are self-retaining and stay open during procedures.
They are made of metal for reuse or plastic for single use (disposable).
Proper sterilization and patient comfort are essential during its use.
